Training Diary – Athletes doing their homework
The project „Training Diary“ is a series of documented practice sessions. Personal and dedicated,
it offers a look into my daily training sessions as a professional athlete,
often in locations that are not widely known, without any PR set-ups or fancy outfits.
Starting in 2022 and ongoing, the „Training Diary“ project features athletes from a variety of sports, including:
Track and Field, Beach Volleyball, MTB, Ice Hockey, Rugby, and Bodybuilding.
„Training Diary“ shows authentic representations,
offering insights into a reality that is rarely seen from the outside-
one that is often unspectacular and largely unknown to the public.
I draw on my personal experience from years of training as a competitive swimmer in my youth.
My starting point for this project was the oddly skewed imbalance between countless hours of training
on one hand and the short durations of formal competitions,
public appearances, and those spotlight moments on the other.
Now, as a photographer, I capture that part of athletes lives
marked by endless hours of training and practice routines
moments of physical and mental exhaustion, but also moments of joy and daily friendships with teammates.
